Presenting Denver: What is something you enjoy about Denver?

Tara Sanpanit: It is still a city but it is close to nature.

PD: Do you split your time between dance/the arts and another vocation?

TS: Yes, I’m a project coordinator for a commercial window covering company in downtown Denver. Also, currently building my own start-up business as well!

PD: Describe yourself in three words.

TS: Energetic, Culturist, Crowd-pleaser

PD: What do you stand for as a dancer/organization leader?

TS: I see myself as a culture presenter. My dance crew presents the dancehall culture of Jamaica.

PD: What advice would you give to another aspiring person in dance?

TS: Dance with your heart, not hype.

PD: Do you travel? If so, do you see shows around the country/world? What does this do for you?

TS: I love traveling. I love learning the dances of other cultures, starting with traditional dances. This shows dance through centuries of the country. It shows what inspired them. It shows a country’s culture and way of living.

PD: Tell us why you continue to fight for the right to dance and share dance.

TS: It makes me happy. It frees my soul. Sometimes it even challenges me. I think the best part of learning different dances from around the world is how that makes me feel connected with the people of these places.
