WHATEVER HAPPENS IN THIS SPACE FEELS LIKE MAGIC

When someone loves her job, you can feel it. When the energy is palpable in a space and magic happens, there is a shared sense. The magnitude of potential available within the walls of Wonderbound simply astounds. So, why not start a conversation?

I want people to talk about art. – Sarah Tallman, Choreographer & Dancer, Wonderbound

Let’s talk about art and dance and what Sarah Tallman is doing to manifest conversation. A dedicated wife and animal lover (3 cats and 2 dogs), Sarah has been a member of the Wonderbound dance community for 11 seasons. Her newest choreography, Son of Man, will be showcased in  with a debut October 18 that runs through October 26. This performance will be on a bill with Garrett Ammon’s Serenade for Strings and will showcase the Colorado Symphony.

An avid researcher, Sarah delves into an era or musical period to fully understand the nuances behind the sounds collaborating with her movements. Weaving together the interchange of physical space exploration with the dissonance and resonance of noise, the collaboration is a newness for the audience to digest.

I have never thought I was very serious, but I have learned that I am very intense. I love ballet, the structure, the technique. I love to see the technique and then, mess it up.

Like scribbling after constructing a picture, Sarah, takes every opportunity to practice and work towards perfection. When asked about maintaining the balance between choreographer and dancer, she said, it is not a struggle, rather, a nice change of pace. Being told what to do versus coming up with the moves is invited. It allows her to shift quickly from one mindset to another without getting caught up. The compartmentalization provides a forum for dialogue.

W. Celeste Davis Stragand: Published author, showcased artist and local Denverite, W. Celeste Davis Stragand is not new to the art world. Her passion for delving into the root of existence and movement will challenge and praise both choreographers and the audience. A graduate of Texas A&M University, Celeste holds two bachelor of arts degrees, one in Chemistry and the other in English. She is also a graduate of Naropa University holding a Masters of Fine Arts in Writing and Poetics from the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics. A former national slam team poet, Celeste is a graduate of the Downtown Denver Partnership Leadership Program and sits on the American Institute of Architects Colorado board. Her passion and enthusiasm for the kinetic arts will frolic and frenzy through the upcoming season of performances with many hopes for an encore!
