2020 Presenting Denver Dance Festival Dancer Audition
February 8, 2020 | Presenting Denver and The Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts co-hosted an audition for Colorado dancers 18 years and older interested in performing at the festival. Festival artists seeking dancers were Candice Barth, Claire Kendall Creative Project, and jk-co. In addition, our festival Artist-in-Residence Edgar L. Page: Feel the Movement selected dancers from the audition to create a work to be performed on the Public Stage showcase at the festival. The audition took place at the June Swaner Gates Concert Hall and room 130 in the Newman Center.
2019 Wine & Works-in-Progress Feedback Session
March 8, 2019 | Wine & Works-in-Progress Feedback Session was a free evening of dance by Colorado student and professional choreographers ethereum dance co., Franca Telesio, Jenny Gram / The JGram Project, Madeline Jazz Harvey, Rosie Granito, and Will Treat. The facilitated discussion was led by Chris Harris. The event was held in the Conservatory Theatre at The Robert and Judi Newman Center for Theatre Education.
Presenting Denver Dance Festival
June 23-24, 2018 | Over the weekend, 15 artists showed choreographic works at the inaugural Presenting Denver Dance Festival, co-presented by Presenting Denver and The Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts. A statewide call for submissions took place seeking applications for participation in the Dance Festival. The artists invited to present works at the Dance Festival were selected by an independent panel of jurors which include Darrell Anderson, visual artist; Laurence Anthony Curry, actor, dancer and choreographer; Alicia Karczewski, Denver School of the Arts Dance and Movement Department Director; Mary Louise Lee, First Lady of Denver and accomplished performer; and Stephen W. Seifert, former Executive Director of the Newman Center for the Performing Arts.
The nearly sold-out weekend of performances included world premieres by Colorado artists Chadash Contemporary Dance Movement, Edgar L. Page, Gregory Gonzales, Hannah Kahn Dance Company, Helanius J. Wilkins, Kristen Demaree, Moraporvida Contemporary Dance, and The Schiff Dance Collective in the Main Stage “New & Now” concert. The “Audience Favorite Award” was presented to Edgar L. Page, who will be invited back as an Artist-in-Residence to create a special piece at the 2020 Dance Festival.
The free public Stage concert, “No Walls”, included standing room only performances by Colorado artists David Taylor’s Zikr Dance Ensemble, Mary Lynn Lewark, Maureen Breeze Dance Theater, Nile H. Russell, Nu-World Contemporary Danse Theatre, Parasol Arts, and Thomas Dance Project.
Festival performances took place at the Newman Center, Byron Theatre at the University of Denver campus. The biennial Presenting Denver Dance Festival will take place again in the summer of 2020. To receive information about the event, subscribe to our mailing list.
June 23, 2018 | By invitation only, The Noble Energy VIP Reception was a part of the Presenting Denver Dance Festival at the Newman Center Byron Theatre Lobby and Patio. This was a wonderful opportunity for choreographers to connect with Presenting Denver staff and sponsors, as well as a chance for Presenting Denver and the Newman Center to thank its supporters. Thank you to everyone who came creating the successful turnout.
Master Class and Preview Performance Series
February 17, March 17, April 21, and May 19, 2018 | As part of the 2018 Presenting Denver Dance Festival, master classes were taught by Kristen Demaree, Helanius J. Wilkins, Hannah Kahn of Hannah Kahn Dance Company, Gregory Gonzales, Kelly Archer of Chadash Contemporary Dance Movement, and Molly Finlay of Moraporvida Contemporary Dance. Class levels and genres varied. A sneak peek of the world premieres created by the main stage dance festival artists were shown each month in an informal studio presentation. The performances were followed by a discussion led by Joan Brown. The event was catered by Perspective Gourmet.

March 10, 2018 | Presenting Denver and The Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts hosted two free advanced modern dance master class taught by L.A. Dance Project company members. This event took place at the Newman Center.
2017 Wine & Works-in-Progress Feedback Session
December 2, 2017 | Wine & Works-in-Progress Feedback Session was a free, fun evening of dance by student and professional choreographers Bella Diva Dance, Deepali – Dancer. Actor. Choreographer., Isabel Koontz, Kimberly Savage-Dawkins, Mercury Dance Company, and Sarrah Scott. Attendees sipped wine, viewed, and gave feedback on creative dance creations by these Colorado artists. The discussion was led by facilitator Angie Simmons, Artistic Director of Evolving Doors Dance. Martha Graham Dance Company Master Class
October 7, 2017 | On October 7, 2017 Presenting Denver in co-sponsorship with The Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts hosted a free community master class with Denise Vale, Senior Artistic Associate of the Martha Graham Dance Company, and one of the last principal dancers to work directly with Martha Graham. Ms. Vale engaged an enthusiastic group of multi-generational dancers to move with Graham’s exuberant energy. The event took place in the Byron Studio at the Newman Center.
Inside Look at a Creative Process: Bridgman|Packer Dance
November 17, 2016 | In partnership with Newman Center Presents, Presenting Denver hosted a free Artist Talk, entitled Inside Look at a Creative Process: Bridgman|Packer Dance on Thursday, November 17, 2016 in the Williams Recital Hall at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts.
