Feel with movement and leave it all on the dance floor including your questions for the artists. Conversations From the Floor is an interactive event for you to converse with local artists. Enjoy a performance then learn about what inspired them with a candid conversation with the performers
A Pas De Deux, or dance for two
Participate in an exciting interactive evening filled with ideas, emotion, and movement. Artists and audience members engage in dialogue with each other, inspired thorough a dynamic exchange of verbal and non-verbal communication. Ur featured guests will present works in progress, or workshop pieces in real time, to create authentic dialogue between the artists and audience.
EVOLVE DANCE PROJECT
Evolve Dance Project (EDP) is a Southern Colorado (SOCO) professional dance company that was created to enhance SOCO culture through movement, connection, and outreach. The piece “Glass House” explores how fragility and vulnerability can be painful. It dives into the dichotomy between our desires to be seen by others, to belong and have purpose, and the inherent vulnerability.
MORAPORVIDA CONTEMPORARY DANCE
Moraporvida Contemporary Dance (MPVCD) is a Denver based Contemporary Dance company that creates physical and provocative work. One of the newer works that has entered the repertory of MPVCD is Jacob Mora’s “Trace Memory”. Like many pieces in the MPVCD rep, this piece is an exploration of the human condition. Based on the many definitions of Trace, This piece looks at the longing and chasing of the ideal self. How moments in time can create trauma or do damage. Through sound and imagery, the company highlights newer sections of this 30 min work.
Ben Needham-Wood’s Sun and Steel was originally choreographed for Boulder Ballet’s Season Opener in 2023. The Ballet is based on controversial Japanese Author, Yukio Mishimo’s text Sun and Steel addressing the intersection of action and art. Boulder Ballet plans to expand this ballet from 17-30 minutes this spring and is looking forward to having input and feedback from the audiences at Conversations from the Floor.
