Celebrating its 20th Annual Season, Sans Souci Festival seeks film/video works featuring the integration of dance and cinematography for exhibition at in-person and virtual screenings in 2023. We encourage submissions from all artists regardless of credentials and affiliations.

Recently highlighted in Dance Magazine, Sans Souci Festival of Dance Cinema is a niche film festival where choreography meets cinematography. We exhibit screendances/dance films, documentaries, music videos, microshorts, hybrid/performance documentations, and more in public screenings, video installations, and educational events in the U.S. and around the world. With an expansive definition of dance and an appreciation for highly experimental and interdisciplinary forms, this unique festival exposes diverse audiences to a variety of film, video, and performance possibilities. We facilitate gatherings from educational workshops to public screenings to professional development for artists. While our roots remain proudly in Boulder County (Colorado, USA), our branches reach many locales nationally and internationally, and continue to grow.When choosing works for exhibition and installation, we consider thoughtful forms and themes, investigative / innovative / experimental approaches, production values, audience appeal, choreographic creativity, virtuosic performance, and program fit. None of these criteria is a must; none is more important than the others; excellence in any one or two areas may be sufficient for acceptance.
