Disquiet and Other Dances

These shows will feature the premiere of “Disquiet”, a quartet set to music by award winning Michigan based composer Bill Ryan. Ryan’s score, “Solitude in Transit” has inspired an intense dance with ominous overtones. This new work will be danced by company veteran Anthi Maria Lindsey alongside the dance company‘s newest members – Jeannie Sincic, Emmy Spaar and Camelia Wilderlove.

Created in 1975, “Debussy Dance” is a quintet set to the first two movements of Debussy’s String Quartet. Reconstructing the dance from the blurry old video tapes has been a challenge, but the energy and passion of the dance shine through.

The program will also include a reworking of “Uncharted”, an eerie and complex work created in 2003. “Stirring”, also created in 2003 will add a contrast in mood and style. Set to beautiful folk songs from eastern Europe, this quintet takes the dancers on a journey through moods both joyful and heartfelt. A solo from 1998, “Only” will be danced by company member Killian von Holdt.

Completing the program will be “Convergence”, which had its premiere in 2022, and “The Get-Go”, an audience favorite choreographed in 2013 which we revived last fall and are repeating on this program.
