Meredith Hutson is the founder and former Executive Director of Presenting Denver (2013-2020). She remains an active volunteer with the organization.
Originally from Oklahoma City, Meredith attended magnet school Classen School of Advanced Studies where she majored in visual arts while she also performed with Theatre Upon A StarDanceSwan. She fell in love with Graham technique while at student at OSAI Quartz Mountain and explored many other modern dance techniques while a concurrent student at the University of Central Oklahoma. During her time as a student at Classen she won multiple visual art awards, most notably the 1 of 5 top national Gold Metal Portfolios and the White House Women’s Leadership Award both from from Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.
Continuing her passion for both art and dance, Meredith graduated from the University of New Mexico with a BA in Dance, a BAFA in Art Studio, and was named the Outstanding Senior Student in the Department of Theatre and Dance by the College of Fine Arts. Meredith attended summer study at MELT/Movement Research, Summer Stages Dance, and was a production intern at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival.
Prior to founding Presenting Denver, Meredith worked in the membership department at the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, membership in the fitness industry, danced for Louder Than Words Dancetheatre in Denver and Perpetual Motion Dance in Oklahoma City. Meredith founded Presenting Denver as a way to give back to her community and help define Denver as a dance hub. Under her leadership, Presenting Denver was able to establish key events such as the Presenting Denver Dance Festival and Wine & Works-in-Progress Feedback Session as well as develop a comprehensive website featuring Colorado dance and editorial content. She is forever grateful for the dance community embracing the organization, the patron support, and all the volunteers that helped to build Presenting Denver from the ground up.
Meredith is the past Chair of the Community Advisory Board of The Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts (2018-2020). In 2018, Meredith served as a mentor for the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation’s Colorado Leadership Alliance (CLA) Mentoring Program. Additional past board involvement includes the Presenting Denver Board of Directors President (2014-2018), Denver Independent Choreographers Project (2011-2014) and the Dean’s Advisory Council for the UCD College of Arts and Media (2012-2015). She also served as the Chair of CBCA’s Leadership Arts Alumni Network Committee from 2014-2019. Meredith is a 2012 graduate of the CBCA Leadership Arts Program and a 2013 graduate of the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation Legacy Denver Program. Meredith received the 2019 PNC Bank Cultural Leadership Award from CBCA for her volunteer work in the Denver community.
