René Heredia is a leading figure in the development of Flamenco and was given an Award by The Carson Brierly Dance Library as a “Living Legend of Dance of Colorado”. René was also nominated by The Colorado Dance Alliance for the “Lifetime Achievement Award of Colorado”. René designs and choreographs all his dances around the student’s ability, whatever level the student is at: beginner, intermediate, advanced, semi-professional or professional.
In pure gypsy fashion, he first teaches “Compas” (rhythm) which is the most important thing you want to learn. The basis of all flamenco is compas! You will also learn to dance with the accompaniment of live guitar. René brings a unique view and knowledge to flamenco with his long and varied history of performance and education with some of Spain’s best dancers, singers and guitarists. It has been said that “René is a walking encyclopedia, a treasure trove of knowledge.”
René Heredia is the only person left in the United States who is from the Carmen Amaya era. He is the only person who can teach you the “Carmen Amaya Alegrias.” He remembers all the techniques of Carmen and specializes in the Alegrias. To learn “Flamenco Puro”, contact René.
