Mixology

Mixology
June 9, 2015 W. Celeste Davis Stragand

Taking performance and putting it to the human test is a challenge and SO MUCH FUN! Wonderbound’s Mixology is about the best $20 I have spent for a drop-in class in ages. Now, I am not a tried and true dancer. My years of movement include the pre-requisite southern girl tap, ballet and jazz (to teach me grace), and then some modern in college.

Wonderbound has taken my Tuesday nights and turned them into a dance party. Beginning at 6:30p and running for an hour, the instructor-led class runs through a variety of movements and physical expressions. The best part for me was the ability to giggle. In my head, I had these visions of graceful fluid form… and then the music starts, and the counting begins, and the beat pumps, and I am a flailing shamble. But, who cares? It is a room full of adults all looking to move, wiggle, jump and sashay across the dance floor. It is a room full of people living and enjoying the industrial open space of Junction Box. There were a couple of passerby who stopped to watch, but they were just jealous of the fun taking place inside!

I had meant to write about this upon my first experience and held back. I was being selfish not wanting too many people to know about this treasure…Wonderbound, you did it again – I am hooked and so happy. Now, on to this evening – let’s groove!

Mixology specifics: Price ranges from $16-20 pending upon the number purchased. Dates are most Tuesdays and Thursdays between now and the end of June. Location: Junction Box, 1075 Park Ave, West, Denver, CO 80205. Website: www.wonderbound.com
