ABOUT MORAPORVIDA CONTEMPORARY DANCE

Moraporvida Contemporary Dance (MPVCD) is a multicultural repertory dance company that features an amazing group of dancers and performers. Based out of Denver, MPVCD is committed to the growth of the performing arts through live performance, residencies, workshops, classes, and outreach. MPVCD has been seen across the nation showcasing a collection of powerful electrifying, award-winning repertory that has been featured in concert venues, award shows and festivals.

Established by Jacob Mora, “Porvida” is Spanish meaning “For Life”.

By stating the words MORAPORVIDA! It is the mantra, statement and testament for the life we have and for the courage to live it well!

 

ABOUT JACOB MORA

Jacob Mora Is Executive & Artistic Director of Moraporvida Contemporary Dance a Contemporary Company based on urban experiences and the exploration of the human condition.

Jacob has showcased a wide range of award winning, electrifying dance repertory across the nation that fuses multiple styles and culture within his work.

As well as Director Dancer and Choreographer Jacob works within film, theatre, music and education.

Jacob has been on faculty with the University of Wyoming, UNLV, New York Institute of Dance and Education and Metro State College.

A native of Denver, Jacob is proud to call Colorado home.


IN THE SPOTLIGHT


MASTER CLASS AND PREVIEW PERFORMANCE SERIES
MAY 19, 2018

As part of the Presenting Denver Dance Festival Master Class and Preview Performance Series, Moraporvida Contemporary Dance will be teaching an intermediate modern contemporary master class for students ages 15 years or older on May 19, 2018 from 1:00-2:30pm. Jacob Mora will be showing a sneak peek of the work he is creating for the dance festival from 2:45-3:45pm. The informal showing will be followed by a short audience Q/A with the artists as well as a reception. Both events will take place at Mercury Academy of Dance. Learn more.

Main Stage | New & Now

The 2018 Presenting Denver Dance Festival, co-presented by Presenting Denver and The Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts, will be a compilation of world premieres by Colorado artists Chadash Contemporary Dance Movement, Edgar L. Page, Gregory Gonzales, Hannah Kahn Dance Company, Helanius J. Wilkins, Kristen Demaree, Moraporvida Contemporary Dance, and The Schiff Dance Collective. These main stage artists will perform in the New & Now concert in the Byron Theatre on June 23-24, 2018. There will be additional dance activities over the weekend and throughout the year.
