ABOUT HANNAH KAHN DANCE COMPANY

The Hannah Kahn Dance Company, one of Denver’s finest professional modern dance troupes has been sharing its passion for dance with the Denver community since 1988. Our mission is to share our passion for dancing and making dances; to move people through movement; and to inspire children, dancers and audiences alike through teaching and community engagement. This mission is inspired and guided by the unique choreography of Hannah Kahn. The company receives funding from the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District, the Gwen Bowen Fund of The Denver Foundation, the Denver Ballet Guild and Colorado Creative Industries.

ABOUT HANNAH KAHN

Hannah Kahn is a master choreographer and teacher who has created 136 dances over her 45 year career. Kahn was honored as a “Living Legend of Dance” by the Carson Brierley Dance Library, and by the Colorado Ballet in their Tribute to Women in Dance in Colorado. Her work is known for its musicality, complexity and physicality.

After graduating from the Juilliard School, Kahn founded a company in New York, and directed it there for twelve years before moving to Colorado in 1988.

In addition to her own company, her works have been performed by dozens of other dance groups.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT

“When asked why she wanted to show work at the Presenting Denver Dance Festival, Kahn expressed a desire to work amongst other artists. “It is easy to be isolated,” she acknowledged, referring to usually creating work in her own space. Kahn was excited to see the variety of dance within the festival in terms of genres, choreography, and music choices.” ~ Sutton Anker
