A North Carolina native, Jeannette Sharp Oakes moved to Colorado to study Business Administration and Dance at CU Boulder, and moved to Denver shortly afterwards. Growing up with a dance teacher mother, she was exposed to a variety of dance forms and performance companies. From a young age, Jeannette had the privilege of studying with the late Eugene “Luigi” Faccuito at his studio in NYC in his signature jazz technique. Last summer, she interned in the Performances Office of the American Dance Festival, where she worked with world renowned modern companies in Durham, NC. While in college, she began interning with Colorado Ballet Education and Community Engagement, and became an Outreach Instructor shortly after. She currently teaches ballet, creative movement, and tap classes and workshops in Denver Public Schools and at Colorado Ballet studios. Jeannette is a member of Colorado’s only rhythm tap company, Rocky Mountain Rhythm and enjoys spending time volunteering with multiple dance and film organizations around Colorado.
